In early July, 2025, Oregon Public Broadcasting aired an update on some of the research into the likely effects of a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake on the Pacific Northwest. The new research suggests that previous estimates of possible damage, as concerning as they have been, may be underestimating the possible damage. This gives even more motivatgion to being prepared in as many ways as possible, but especially in setting up emergency communications systems.
