Walkie-Talkies (FRS/GMRS) are the foundation of disaster incident reporting. You can add to the Eugene EmComm effort by supplying on-the-site reports to your local ham radio operator. That message will be conveyed to the Eugene Emergency Operations Center. The purpose of this group is to help you to learn the proper ways to communicate, and the procedures to follow to make incident reporting quick and efficient. During Spring, 2025 we will be resuming online Zoom training sessions for walkie talkie operators. Check back in on our front page for updates!
If you have questions or suggestions for future trainings, please use the Contact Form to let us know. Videos of our previous sessions are included on our Instruction page. You can learn more about the different kinds of radios, their advantages and disadvantages, as well as any licensing requirements on our About Radios page.
For detailed information on EmComm in the Eugene area, refer to the Neighborhood Communications Response Guide, published by the City of Eugene.
