Three vitally important concepts in emergency communications are Promptness, Efficiency and Accuracy. We endeavor to transmit important as quickly and accurately as possible in an emergency. As news technologies develop that will help us achieve these goals, we will strive to learn more about them, and if they are useful, we will strive to incorporate them into the work we do.
Gerry Brown (KK7GAB) recently presented information on VarAC during one of our Wednesday night nets. According to the VarAC website (https://www.varac-hamradio.com/), “VarAC is a FREE, modern HF P2P real-time chatting and emergency communication (EmComm) application for amateur radio operators, leveraging the VARA protocol.” In addition to this website, there are some other available online resources to help you learn more about VarAC:
