Rumblings: Preparing for Cascadia—Film Screening and Panel

From the The Museum of Natural and Cultural History Facebook Page

Join us on Sunday, January 26, from 2-4 PM at the Art House for a free screening of Rumblings: Preparing for Cascadia.
On the 325th anniversary of the last Cascadia megathrust earthquake, this powerful documentary dives into the risks of a magnitude 9+ earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone and highlights how Oregon and local communities are preparing.
Are you ready for “The Big One”? Following the screening, participate in a discussion with director Brian Landon and local earthquake preparedness specialists.
Admission is free, but tickets are required. Reserve yours today: eugenearthouse.com/event-screenings.
This event is co-sponsored by the Oregon Hazards Lab, the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, the Cascadia Region Earthquake Science Center, the The Museum of Natural and Cultural History, and University of Oregon Safety and Risk Services.

On Wednesday, November 6, we will meet briefly on-air for our regularly-scheduled check in on the VHF repeater, and then switch over to Zoom. A link for the session will be on the front page of the website that day, or you can request the link in advance here.

The presentation, “Winlink for the Absolute Newbie”, will be hosted by Gerry Brown, KK7GAB, and is an introduction to Winlink. The duration of the presentation will be about 30 minutes, with 15 minutes planned for questions.

The presentation will cover:

  • What is Winlink?
  • How does it work?
  • What equipment do I need?

We hope to see you there!

You are Invited to a discussion on developing an orientation plan for Eugene EmComm. At 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, we will be holding a Zoom discussion on developing an orientation for EmComm members.

We currently have no organized way to share with new members our purpose, procedures, and a knowledge foundation to help them get up to speed and become fully functional participants in our activities.
The goal for this meeting is to develop an outline for a self-paced, online orientation for new members. To participate, please use the Contact form to request the Zoom link (the link is the same one we have used for other EmComm business). If you have ideas you would like to contribute but are unable to take part on May 11th, you may also use to Contact form to submit your ideas.
